Queer Identity and Sexuality in the Arab Community

In recognition of Queer Awareness Month at Columbia University , Turath will be hosting an open discussion about queer identity and sexuality in the Arab community. This event is aimed at creating a more understanding Arab community on campus, one that is able to support the diversity within by exploring power, privilege, and oppression specifically as it relates to gender and sexuality. This event will provide foundational knowledge about the LGBTQ community (including identifying and defining important terms in English and Arabic) and arm students with the knowledge to explore and understand diverse queer and trans identities, experiences, and communities.
